Women’s health
HEALTH
At HMP, we specialise in women’s health with a particular focus on perimenopause and menopause.
We bring together health psychology and mind–body medicine to support women experiencing both clear medical diagnoses and unexplained physical symptoms. Our work centres on the neurophysiology of stress—how your brain and nervous system influence your physical and emotional wellbeing. By understanding these connections, we help you make sense of your symptoms and feel more in control of your health.
Women’s health concerns related to perimenopause, menopause, chronic pain, and midlife change have often been under-researched, minimised, or misunderstood. Many women describe feeling dismissed, told their symptoms are “just stress,” or left navigating long waiting lists with little guidance. As a result, they often struggle to access timely, informed, and compassionate support.

The Women’s Health Strategy for England highlights these longstanding gaps and sets out a national commitment to improving care, understanding, and support for women at every stage of life. Our practice is closely aligned with these aims: we listen to women, take concerns seriously, and provide informed, compassionate care across key areas such as menstrual health, fertility and pregnancy, menopause, mental wellbeing, long-term conditions, and recovery from trauma or loss. We focus on accessible, evidence-based support, clear information, and joined-up care so that every woman and girl can feel heard, respected, and empowered in her health journey.
We recognise the limitations of traditional healthcare and offer a service that takes women’s symptoms seriously, validates their lived experience, and bridges the divide between mind, body, and health psychology. While we don’t treat hormones directly, we help clients understand the role hormonal changes may play in their symptoms and support them in finding strategies to manage these challenges or seek additional medical care when needed.
Perimenopause and menopause can affect every part of life, sleep, mood, energy, relationships, work, and self-confidence. For some, this transition is straightforward; for many, it is confusing, overwhelming, and lonely.
Our aim is to move beyond a purely reactive, medical-only approach towards a holistic model that considers:
- Your history, responsibilities, and support network
- The nervous system and hormonal influences
- Emotional wellbeing and stress
- Lifestyle factors such as sleep, movement, and nutrition
How We Support You
We take a collaborative, whole-person approach:
- We listen carefully to your story and priorities
- We help you understand how stress, the nervous system, and hormonal changes may interact with your symptoms
- We work alongside other professionals involved in your care (GP, consultant, physio, nutritionist), where appropriate
- We co-create a personalised plan that feels realistic and sustainable
Our goal is to help you regain a sense of control, feel more confident in managing your condition, and improve your quality of life – not just your test results.
